Start your day with Ricardo Off Road Madeira and discover the island’s mountain and coastal landscapes. Travel by minibus with a local guide, with time for photographs and stories about Madeira along the way. On the way up to Pico do Arieiro, follow old roads and steep climbs through the forests of Madeira’s highlands.

Your itinerary
- Funchal: hotel pick-up before sunrise.
- Pico do Arieiro (1,818 m): climb along old roads and steep slopes through the highland forest, then enjoy the mountain scenery and watch the sunrise when conditions allow.
- Ribeiro Frio: descend into Madeira’s green mountain landscapes.
- Guindaste viewpoint: stop for views of the north coast.
- Pico do Facho: enjoy the panoramic coastal views.
- Funchal: return and hotel drop-off.
Weather & sunrise
Madeira has several microclimates, and weather conditions can change quickly. If conditions at Pico do Arieiro are not favourable, we may head to Ponta de São Lourenço to try to watch the sunrise there instead. The itinerary may be adjusted according to weather and road conditions. We cannot guarantee a visible sunrise or clear views at either location.
Morning coffee stop
After the sunrise, we will look for a local café for a morning coffee break. This stop depends on which cafés or other establishments are open at that early hour, so the location may vary and the stop cannot be guaranteed. Coffee and other refreshments are paid separately.

- Comfortable clothing, including a warm layer for the mountains.

- A camera or phone for photographs.
Pick-up & booking
The pick-up time varies with the season and sunrise time and will be confirmed before the tour.
Included: the minibus tour, local guide, and pick-up and drop-off in Funchal.
